Darren Stevenson
Owner and Executive Producer
Darren is the Executive Producer and founder of 519 Sports Online which launched in October 2017 as a new platform covering local sports in our 519 community. His goal is to showcase local teams and athletes in a positive light and celebrate the accomplishments of those who call 519 home.
Darren has worked in the sports media business for almost 2 decades. His career started in 2000 working for the FAN 590 radio station in Toronto as a producer. He then moved to television working for TSN as a Senior Editorial Assistant until 2005. His experience working in Toronto prepared him to make the jump to a sports reporter in his hometown of Kitchener.
Darren spent just over 12 years working for CTV Kitchener as a sports reporter and anchor on the 11:30pm local news. Some of his fond memories include covering the Laurier Golden Hawks Vanier Cup run in 2005, the Memorial Cup hosted by the Kitchener Rangers in 2008 and numerous local high school championships across the region.
In 2013, Darren was recognized with the OUA Media Award for his contributions and coverage for university sports at Laurier, Waterloo and Guelph. He is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University's Communication Studies program and Humber College's post graduate Journalism program. He attended high school in Kitchener at Forest Heights Collegiate.
Brandon Bax
Operations Manager/Videographer
Brandon joined 519 Sports Online as a videographer in February 2018 after working for CTV Kitchener as a technical operator for over 3 years. Brandon is passionate about local sports and is thrilled to be part of the 519 team showcasing local athletes and teams in the 519 community.
Brandon hails from Paris, Ontario and currently resides in West Perth, Ontario. Bax is a graduate of St. John's College in Brantford and attended Conestoga College in Kitchener earning a Broadcast Television diploma in 2012. He brings local sports knowledge, experience and a love of broadcasting to his position with 519 Sports Online.
Griffen Harris
Play by Play/Videographer
Griffen connected with 519 Sports as an intern while attending Conestoga College in the spring of 2022. After completing his internship Griffen joined 519 as the second voice of the platform and later began filming highlights. Griffen now films, voices and edits for 519 and thoroughly enjoys connecting with the local community and giving back to teams, coaches and athletes that helped shape him as a person.
Griffen was born and raised in Waterloo Ontario and participated first hand in the birth of 519 when Darren Stevenson covered his high school rugby team at WCI. Griffen has played a plethora of sports competitively and this only adds to his local sports knowledge around the region.
Griffen Graduated from the Broadcast-Radio program at Conestoga College in 2022 and he has worked with 519 ever since.
Dylan Baker
Play by Play
Dylan Baker has joined 519 Sports for the 2024-2025 GOJHL season, as a play-by-play broadcaster. A current Sport Media Student at Toronto Metropolitan University entering his second year, Dylan has a passion for broadcasting.
A graduate of École secondaire Gabriel-Dumont, in London, ON, and a London native, Dylan has over five years of broadcasting experience in both French and English. He began with a podcast in 2018, then signed on to be the colour commentator with the IBL’s London Majors in 2019, and the play-by-play voice of the Komoka Kings later that year, both roles he continues to occupy.
Dylan also was the bilingual PA Announcer at the 2024 Memorial Cup, in Saginaw, MI, and looks forward to continuing to grow his broadcasting portfolio with 519 Sports.
Devin Gilmore - MacNeill
Play by Play
Devin hails from Cornwall Ontario where he played football for the Cornwall Wildcats growing up and still lives in the area. He earned a graduates degree in Sports Business Management at Algonquin College in Ottawa before becoming the Director of Content for TYSN (The Youth Sports Network) where he continues his work with the company today. Devin is TYSN’s main play by play announcer for football livestreams and is excited to begin his role with 519 Sports continuing to be a recognizable voice in the Ontario football community.
Steve Gibson
Videographer
Steve Joined 519 sports as a videographer in August 2022. Steve has a dynamic and diverse media background and has over 15 years of sports and event production experience. Steve has spent time as a camera operator, producer and most recently an event operations specialist at MLSE covering the Leafs, Raptors, as well as live concerts and events.
Live sports production is something I always thought would end up being a big part of my life. 15 plus years later I still remember starting my production career and the overwhelming feeling. 519 Sports brings me back to those days, and seeing the excitement on the faces of these athletes truly makes this job feel like it has a positive impact in our community.
Steve Klein
Videographer
Steve joined 519 Sports Online as a videographer in August 2023. Steve brings over 20 years of sports videography experience including the last 12 years as a Rogers TV Volunteer. He primarily does the game follow camera for the Kitchener Rangers, but also numerous other sports & programs. Steve loves the amateur & youth sports scene locally as you get to witness the drive and passion for the game from these athletes.
Steve grew up & has lived most of his life in Cambridge. During the last year Steve has also been doing some commentating to see the games from the other side of the camera. Steve was thrilled to join 519 Sports Online and is always striving to be the best he can be, someone the 519 Sports Online team can depend on.
Tanner Lovejoy
Videographer
Tanner was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario and is a graduate of Galt Collegiate Institute. He found a passion for photography/videography while shooting for local high school sports.
Tanner has always been involved in local sports, including playing for Cambridge and Waterloo Minor Baseball for 14 years. His combined love of sports and videography is what brought him to 519 Online Sports in December 2019.
Even though this is Tanner’s first job in Sports broadcasting, he has grown immensely under the leadership and guidance of the 519Sports team. He is thrilled to be working for 519, showcasing local athletes and is thankful for the opportunity and experiences he has had to date.
Brayden Lloyd
Videographer
Brayden Joined 519 Sports Online as a videographer in September 2021. Earlier that year, he graduated from Business Administration Marketing at Conestoga College where he carried on his love for creating videos. Shooting and editing videos has always been a passion and hobby for Brayden along with covering his favourite sport, hockey, which he grew up playing for the Kitchener Jr Rangers (KMHA). With a love for videos and sports, Brayden is delighted to be a part of the 519 Sports Online team by shooting memorable moments for a variety of young local athletes.
Matt Hoddle
Videographer
Matt Hoddle has had a love for camera work since he’s been in high school recording football games. He graduated from the Broadcast Radio and Television program at Conestoga College, and has done many freelance videographer jobs ever since. He has worked for Rogers TV, the Kitchener Rangers and Conestoga College Condors to name a few.
Matt also is a part-time wedding DJ on weekends, and is the official PA Announcer for the Kitchener Panthers Baseball Club during the summer. Matt has a passion for sports, which is why he is a great asset to the 519 Sports online team.
Matt Carey
Videographer
Starting out with a position on the Laurier film team in 2012, Matt then worked in the CFL in 2013 & 2014 for the Roughriders and Tiger-Cats respectively.
Returning to Laurier in 2015 as the Assistant Video Coordinator, a role he still holds today, Matt was a part of the 2016 Yates Cup winning program.
In 2021, Matt came on board at MVP to help extend their ability to coach such a geographically diverse group of players by having practice and game film to review remotely.
In 2022 Matt expanded his work into two new ongoing roles, first as Video Coordinator for the Tri-City Outlaws and then taking up an offer to film for 519 Sports Online, bringing local sport to the masses.
In 2023, Matt returned to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as a Video Assistant, capturing the CFL 'all-24' endzone film angle.
Lucas Furfaro
Play by Play/Videographer
Lucas joined 519 Sports Online in 2019 after volunteering doing handheld, static and interview shots for Kitchener Rangers games as well as a handful of studio shows for Rogers TV Channel 20 for upwards of 3 years. Lucas' shooting and editing skills are ever growing as he is now a student at Conestoga College in his second year looking to graduate in 2023 with a Television and Independent Production diploma.
Lucas hails from Waterloo, Ontario and grew up watching and being a part of a number of 519 Sports Online videos during his 5 years playing high school football. Lucas also has experience in the sport announcing ranks as he's worked in and around the OUA for 7 years as well as with some professional and semi professional teams such as the Guelph Nighthawks. Lucas’ love for shooting and editing as well as a vast knowledge of almost any sport has helped him transition into his role on our team smoothly.
Damian Erzar
Videographer
Damian Erzar is a recent Niagara College broadcasting, radio, television and film (BRTF) graduate. He has been a camera operator for a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, rowing and football but loves hockey and will travel anywhere to film it. Damian is from the Niagara region and is excited to be showcasing Niagara athletes through the 519 Sports platform since September 2023.
Hayden Nowell
Videographer
Hayden connected with 519 Sports Online while doing music during the 2023 Schmalz Cup Final Four Tournament in Woodstock. Hayden has been a volunteer for the PJHL Woodstock Navy Vets since 2022, doing the Music and PA Announcing. Hayden has always had a passion for Local sports doing Music and PA Announcing for Woodstock Minor Hockey teams as well.
Hayden is from Woodstock Ontario, and currently attends Huron Park Secondary School. Hayden grew up playing Baseball for the Woodstock Minor Baseball Association. He got into Hockey at 14 years old after attending a PJHL Woodstock Navy Vets game in 2019 and since then has been very involved with the sport. Hayden has always had a passion for filming and editing videos and is thrilled to be a part of the 519 Sports Online team.
Matt De Oliveira

Matt joined 519 Sports Online in August 2024 as a videographer & photographer. Matt became well acquainted with Darren and the 519 Sports team every Saturday night at the Galt Arena Gardens while working with the Cambridge RedHawks.
Matt is from Cambridge, ON and found his passion for camera work during his time at St. Lawrence College in Kingston, ON while earning a degree in Music & Digital Media. After photographing games with the Kingston Frontenacs (OHL) along with multiple University of Waterloo Warriors teams, he got an opportunity years later to be the head photographer/social media manager for the Cambridge RedHawks as his first professional media position from 2018 to 2024. Matt is excited get an opportunity to jump into the video side of media with the 519 Sports team!
