When you reflect on the LIstowel Cyclones Sutherland Cup run from last season many names come to mind. Chayse Herrfort, Caleb Warren and Max Wright just to name a few. They all played a pivotal role in the Cyclones claiming their first ever Sutherland Cup title. However, that group also had some unsung heroes and it was a team in every sense of the word.

Trent Verbeek was one of those unsung heroes and without his goal in the Cherrey Cup semi-finals, the Cyclones storybook season could of had a different ending. Verbeek scored his first career GOJHL goal late in regulation in Game 7 lifiting the Cyclones to a 4-3 victory over the Waterloo Siskins. Verbeek's goal was the series winner. Cyclones head coach Jason Brooks commented a number of times about being "12 minutes away from elimination" in that Waterloo series. Verbeek played a huge role in keeping the Cyclones season going and looking back Game 7 against Waterloo was the biggest scare Listowel faced en route to the Cherrey Cup and Suthy title.

The Cyclones announced on Monday night, "Mr. Game 7" has signed for the upcoming season. Verbeek will suit up for Listowel on a full time basis this year. The Flesherton native spent the majority of last season playing for the Grey Bruce 'AAA' midget team and before that he played Minor Midget hockey with Grey Bruce.

Verbeek played 5 games during the regular season with Listowel and 8 games during the playoffs. He recorded 2 points in the post-season including that game winner in Game 7.
