We're excited to announce details for this year's 519 Bowl taking place on May 16th and 17th at Warrior Field in Waterloo.
It will see the hometown Jr. Warriors hosting the Cambridge Lions in a AAA showdown between the two local rivals. Waterloo made the jump to the AAA West Division during the offseason and will begin a new chapter with a highly anticipated matchup.
“It's awesome that we're able to host it at Warrior Field" says U18 Jr. Warriors head coach Steven Warner. ”We're going to get the entire region coming out to support each one of those games. I think it's going to be a great environment, a competitive environment."
Action kicks off on Friday May 16th with the Under-18 matchup between the Lions and Warriors at 7:00pm. On Saturday May 17th, the Under-14 game begins at 4:00pm with the Under-16 game right after at 7:00pm.
“We're excited to once again be part of the 519 Bowl and look forward to playing under the lights on Friday night” says U18 Lions head coach Christian Kuriata. “Our senior leadership is a big piece to what I think is going to make us successful this year”.
The organization winning the most games of the three matchups (U18, U16 and U14) will be awarded with this year's 519 Bowl championship trophy. In addition, one player from each team will be recognized as the game MVP following each matchup.
“We love the 519 bowl” says U14 Waterloo head coach Kiel Stoyles “It's a great experience for the kids. The fan turnout, the trophy, the presentation.”
This year, a portion of proceeds from the gate will be donated to the Waterloo Wellington Breast Cancer Centre at Grand River Hospital. Anyone attending the games can also make a donation at the front gate.
Our goal is bringing together the local football community for exciting games and doing something bigger than football raising funds for Breast Cancer research following Mother's Day weekend.
We're thankful to both the Jr. Warriors and Lions for supporting this special weekend and look forward to seeing everyone at the field for the kick off to the 2025 OSFL season.
This is the 3rd season for the 519 Bowl involving our local teams. Cambridge took the inaugural event, Waterloo won the 519 Bowl title in 2024.
