The KW Titans will make history this week when they play in the NBL Canada championship. After beating the Sudbury Five 3-1 in the semi finals, the Titans advanced to their first championship appearance in team history. Titans head coach Neal Foreman was pleased with his team’s performance but says they are still hungry for more.

“We love to celebrate every win whether it be on or off the court, but we know that we aren’t finished yet.”

The Titans will be taking on the London Lighting in their final series, a team that enters the matchup holding a 23-4 record, beating the Titans four out of their five matchups this season. Foreman says it will take a full team effort for all four quarters in order to bring home the title.

“London is definitely clicking as a group right now, but I think we matchup well both style wise and with our size. It will be a tough matchup, but we are looking forward to it.”

While the Titans will be viewed as underdogs going into the series, the talented squad should not be overlooked by any means. The team was recently awarded a number of league awards including Defensive Player of the Year Ty Walker, Rookie of the Year Shakwon Barrett, as well as Most Improved and Most Valuable player award winner Joel Kindred.

“None of the guys were focused on individual awards throughout the year but it was nice to see them receive these honours while still buying into our team systems and goals.” Foreman said when discussing the success his team has had as a group and as individuals this season.

The Titans will open up the series on the road in London for games one and two before returning home for game three and a potential game four.  Game three is set for June 1st with game four   scheduled for June 3rd if necessary. All home games are scheduled for 7:00pm tip-off at the Kitchener Auditorium. Foreman is looking forward to having the fans experience a championship series at home.

“We are going to play our game and to have the Aud packed to showcase Titans basketball in front of the community in a series of this magnitude will be special.”

Fans can purchase tickets through the Aud Box Office at 519-578-1570 or online at kwtitans.com.
