Redhawks make trade to bolster forward depth

The Cambridge Redhawks currently sit in third place in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Midwestern Conference, and they have made a trade to add offensive firepower.

Cambridge sent defenceman Noah Arsenault to the London Nationals in exchange for the rights to forward Wes Dobbin, who will join the Redhawks from the Opaskwayak Blizzard in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Arsenault, an 18-year-old from Waterdown, ON, was in his second season with the Redhawks, tallying a goal and four assists in 24 contests this year. Last season, the defenceman had 12 points in 43 games for Cambridge. Dobbin, a 19-year-old forward from London, ON, played 24 games this season for Opaskwayak, scoring six goals and adding nine assists. He split last season between the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Cobourg and Burlington, earning eight points before returning to the London Nationals midway through the campaign. He finished with nine points in 13 regular season games, and added 15 points during London’s run to game seven of the Sutherland Cup finals.

The deal should help both teams address needs ahead of their respective playoff pushes in the new calendar year. The Nationals are a force again, and currently pace the GOJHL’s Western Conference.
