This is Ryan Sanders, not your average high school student

When I started to write about Ryan I needed to decide where to begin with this young man.

Let's start off with a little bit about him. Ryan and his brother Steven grew up in Kitchener, Ontario. He grew up in a home with his brother, parents, and a dog. Ryan and his brother both love baseball and grew up playing it night and day.

Ryan did not only play baseball growing up. He also played basketball and did bowling for a few years and now runs on the cross country team.  Ryan plays baseball for the Oakville Royals and loves every moment of it. As for basketball, he played as a hobby in the Waterloo Wildhawks house league division. He also is apart of the cross country team at Cameron Heights. The real question is what doesn't he do?!

Ryan is a very humble young man. He is not only humble on the pitch, court, and track but he is also very courteous off the pitch. Just take a look at what he had to say about himself and his brother.

When asked about his brother and if he would like to follow in his brother's path in receiving a scholarship he answered.

“I would ideally love a scholarship but I don't think I'm at that level just yet”.

This proves how humble Ryan really is. He has played baseball for all these years and plays on a team like the Royals and yet still doesn't consider himself as good as his big brother Steven. Now that's one humble brother if I've ever seen one.

When asked to elaborate on that question and if he believes he would eventually get to the level of being scholarship worthy he answered.

“I try my best to improve every day and I guess we’ll see where life takes me”

This once again shows Ryan’s personality. Even when he knows he will train to the best of his ability, he still doesn't want to make himself seem like more than an average teenager.

Baseball season hasn't started just yet so, for now, the young athlete is running for the Cameron Heights cross country team. When asked how cross country was going he answered.

“I feel like it's going well, I think I'm a pretty good runner and mainly it's keeping me fit and im enjoying it”

Usually, when people have a few weeks off from playing sports they take it to rest and recover but not Ryan. Ryan does it to stay fit, this is good as it will only help him when baseball season begins.

Ryan currently does both cross country and baseball but you have to wonder which one he enjoys more. Running helps him stay fit when baseball isn't around but baseball has been his passion since he was young. When asked which one he enjoys more he answered.

“I enjoy them both a lot but I enjoy baseball a lot more since it's been my passion since I was young”

Ryan respectfully enjoys baseball a lot more. I can't blame him since him and his brother have both played for the majority of their lives.

Even after being friends with Ryan for years and learning so much about him while writing this article, I believe there is still more this young man has in his arsenal.

Even if I don't know everything about Ryan, I now know where to begin with him and that's at the intersection between hard work and being humble.
