Offense on center stage as Listowel, Stratford open GOJHL weekend at home

The Listowel Cyclones and the Stratford Warriors will both take to their home ice tonight against Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League Midwest Conference opponents, but only one team boasts the GOJHL points leader.

Listowel sniper Holdyn Lansink has been on a torrid pace since the season opened in September, leading the entire league with 60 points in 27 games. He's scoring at nearly a goal-a-game clip with 25, including a league-leading seven game-winners, and is also second in the GOJHL with eight powerplay tallies. Luckily for Listowel, they also have the league leader in that category. Lansink's linemate Chayse Herrfort also has 25 goals this season but has scored 17 of those goals with the man advantage - nine more than Lansink and anyone else in the league. Herrfort and Brayden Kreiger - seventh and eighth in league scoring - round out the Cyclone's top line that has been giving opposing goaltenders fits all season, and are a major reason why Listowel has continued its recent success into this season.

The Cyclones will host the Brampton Bombers tonight at 7:30pm, while the first-place Stratford Warriors look to keep their perch as they welcome the Brantford 99ers, also at 7:30pm. Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge begin their weekends on Saturday while Elmira has a lone home game against Listowel on Sunday night.
