Siskins, Sugar Kings, and Warriors boast Midwest POM

November was a stellar month for three local Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League teams and their top performers were recognized this week with Player of the Month honours.

Offensive Player of the Month was shared by two Waterloo Siskins who both put up gaudy numbers in November. Alex Lycett had 14 points in 10 games in the month while Sam Spaedt boasted 16 points in the same amount of games. Both players are Michigan natives that joined the Siskins last season. Defensive Player of the Month went to Elmira Sugar Kings defenceman and captain Damian Figueira, who tallied eight points in the month and was a big reason why Elmira went 7-1-1 in November to climb into third place in the Midwest. Stratford Warriors goaltender Zack Weir took home Goalie of the Month after losing only once in November, going 3-1-0-1 with a .909 save percentage, helping Stratford move into a tie for first in the conference.

Each of these teams will be put to the test this weekend as every Midwest squad is in action, beginning with Elmira in Brampton, Cambridge in Stratford and Listowel hosting Brantford tonight.
