Mohawk take Game 2, Wild clinch the west

Mohawks win Game 2 over Niagara

 

The Elora Mohawks have jumped out to a 2-0 series lead over Niagara in the opening round of the Junior B lacrosse playoffs. After winning the series opener at home, Elora dominated on the road Sunday afternoon defeating the Thunderhawks 13-1.

 

Mohawks captain Klayton Hoelscher had a big day with 3 goals and 2 assists. Kurtis Woodland also delivered with a hat trick and 3 assists. Elora will now gear up for Game 3 back on their home floor on Wednesday night at the Elora Community Centre. Game time is 8:00pm.

 

Wild clinch West Division title

 

The Wilmot Wild have enjoyed a terrific regular season in Junior C Lacrosse and they capped it off Sunday taking home the West Division title. Wilmot knocked off Halton Hills 19-7 at the Wilmot Rec Complex on Sunday afternoon to clinch the division with a record of 13 wins and 3 losses this season.

 

The Wild finished off the season on a 6 game winning streak and will now start preparing for the playoffs. The team says a schedule will be released in the coming days.

 

Steven Orleman traded to Brampton

 

The Kitchener Waterloo Braves announced a big trade on Sunday morning sending star goaltender Steven Orleman to the Brampton Excelsiors. In return, the Braves receive 2 first round draft picks as part of the deal. Orleman spent two seasons playing for his hometown team and he tweeted the following on Sunday - 

 

"Had an awesome two years with the K-W Braves. Proud to have been able to call myself a Brave, thank you to my teammates and coaches for everything they did for me. Super excited to get things going with Brampton and to see what can be accomplished this year."

 

The Braves are currently battling for the 8th and final playoff spot in Junior A lacrosse. Their next home game is Thursday June 28th hosting the Toronto Beaches at Kinsmen Arena. Game time is 8:00pm.
