Mounties sign 3 players, Navy Vets announce new GM

The regular season is just a few weeks away in the Provincial Junior Hockey League and almost every team has now opened training camp. On Monday, the Paris Mounties announced 3 player signings for the upcoming season.

 

Matt Patton is returning for his 2nd full season with the Mounties. The 19-year old forward is a Cambridge native and he recorded 13 goals and 10 assists for Paris last season playing in 29 games. On the blueline, Evan Gibbs is joining the Mounties this season after playing Midget hockey with the Brantford 99ers last season. Gibbs is fron Ancaster and he grew up playing in the Brantford Minor Hockey Association. 

 

The Mounties have also added a goaltender to their roster signing 17 year old netminder Jack Fowler on Monday. Fowler is from Burlington and he played for the Hamilton Huskies earlier in his career. Justin Hergott is expected to be the Mounties starting goalie this year. Davis McLean graduated from the Mounties at the end of last season.

The Woodstock Navy Vets have a new General Manager with Robin Inscoe taking over the duties. Inscoe joined the team in December 2017 in an advistory capacity. He said in a news release from the team "I was impressed with the organization from the day I stepped into the rink to take in a home game. The volunteers, team staff, executive and community support by fans and business take a backseat to no one in junior hockey."

 

The Navy Vets will play 4 pre-season games starting on Wednesday August 29th when they visit Aylmer at 7:45pm. Woodstock's PJHL season opener is Friday September 14th hosting the Paris Mounties.

The Ayr Centennials are hosting an Exhibition Showcase this coming weekend at the North Dumfries Community Centre. 6 teams will hit the ice including the Allison Hornets, Clarington Eagles, Mitchell Hawks, Midland Flyers, Caledon Golden Hawks and the hometown Centennials. Action gets underway on Saturday morning at 9:00am with Ayr facing Caledon.

The defending Doherty Division champions from Tavistock have announced their pre-season schedule. The Braves have 2 games at home and 2 on the road. Here is the schedule.

 

Friday August 24th - Mount Forest at Tavistock - 7:30pm

Wednesday August 29th - Dorchester at Tavistock - 7:30pm

Friday August 31st - Tavistock at Mount Forest - 8:00pm

Tuesday September 4th - Tavistock at Dorchester - 7:30pm
